6 Months - Professional Photo shoot

July was a very hot, busy, eventful and exciting month. July started off with little miss Delilah entering her 6th month. Six months old called for another amazing professional photo shoot with Gina Cristine. It was another hot July day. All morning Delilah was full of smiles and excitement. We arrived at Gina's studio and Delilah made an entrance with her big smile and extensive wardrobe. We got all of our looks together and headed outside in downtown Frankfort to start the session.

These were the first few shots. I melted. This baby is the sweetest!

After all of the excitement over the first few minuets, 4 faces gushing over her and I'm sure the heat, Delilah decided that she was going to make the rest of this photo shot a little difficult. If we wanted a smile from now on we were going to have to work real hard for it.

From the pink chair we went to the grass which Delilah is still trying to figure out. She isn't sure if she likes it or not. She really wants to eat it and isn't happy that I will not let her.

Success! Next up... wardrobe change. This baby LOVES her clothes and thankfully loves wardrobe changes.

When I came across this pale purple sunsuit, Delilah had to have it. Even though it was much too big for her, we made it work.

Thumb sucking has started which means one thing.... Delilah is ready for a nap. Oh no! We better get a move on. Time for our third look and Delilah's very special quilt that Grandmother Vicki made.

Delilah decided that this was a perfect place for a nap.

Well that was absolutely adorable but sorry Delilah... we are on a tight schedule and I'm determined to get some more shots. Up you go.

Since she was so sleepy I didn't push for a wardrobe change just yet. We took a little walk to a new location and crossed our fingers that Delilah would turn it back on and guess what, she did!

Well looks like we have a second wind coming on. Wardrobe change anyone? Here is her final look.

Oh wait... There is one more look. I had to have a naked baby shot.

These images are just a sampling of her 6 month photo shoot collection. It absolutely amazes me what Gina can do in less than an hour with a sleepy 6 month old who had four wardrobe changes.

Smile for the camera

Delilah has been a busy little girl this week. On Monday we did some shopping to make sure that I had every possible outfit that I could put her in for her 6 month photo session. I already had about 10 options at home, which was already about 7 more than I needed, but I just felt that I might see something that I couldn't live without. We ended up coming home with 3 more options.

On Tuesday morning we were up early, as usual... and going over her wardrobe options. Thankfully, Delilah loves playing dress up. We made sure that her belly was nice and full and that she had a nice long nap. Her photo shot was at 11:30 and she was full of smiles all morning. This baby smiles all day and all night.

We got her dressed in outfit #1 and set her into place and she gave us 1 adorable smile. It melted my heart and I knew that once again this was going to be an amazing session. Well it was an amazing session.... but that 1 smile was possibly the only one that she gave us.

We were outside, she loves to be outside, but she was mesmerized by everything surrounding her especially the grass. After posing with her blank stare supermodel look she decided to take a nap in the grass. She put her thumb in her mouth and went to sleep. She was done modeling. Even though we couldn't get as many poses and looks that we would have liked, what she just did was adorable. Just like that 1 big smile this melted my heart and made for a great photo.

I can't wait to share her 6 months photos with you all as soon as we receive them.

Just a hop, skip and a jump away

Taking a Stroll around the neighborhood

Delilah has been a sweet little baby since day 1. I have loved watching her grow and develop everyday. I can not believe that she is almost 6 months old. I know... I say it every month, but this is a BIG one. It's her half birthday. I guess I should start planning her 1st birthday now since like her mom and dad, she is a holiday time baby. I don't want her 1st birthday, or any of her birthday's to get lost in the holiday shuffle.

I have loved every stage of her development, but right now might just be my favorite. She smiles ALL the time. She wakes up, she smiles, you look at her, she smiles, she is exhausted and fighting to stay awake, she smiles. My husband asks me all the time "is this normal"? She is a really happy baby.

Along with her sweet smile, she babbles and now giggles. She seems to have new sounds every day now. I love looking in on her when she doesn't know that I am watching and she is babbling away to her elephant, owl or dolly.
Taking a break from smiling to daydream

Watching the big kids play, wishing she could get out and run

Delilah loves to be outside and one of her favorite places is the Morton Arboretum. I can't wait until next year when she can run around and explore and I will be chasing after her. I say that now, but I'm sure that the minuet she starts to walk, she will be on the run and I will be exhausted.

The Captain, also know as Grand Papa, El' Papedo or my dad, is back in town from his 5 month exploration in Mexico. Hopefully he will stick around for a while because Delilah is loving having him back and so are we.

Father's Day at the Morton Arboretum

This week I will be taking Delilah's 6 month milestone pictures. She will be 24 weeks this Thursday. In 2 weeks, Delilah will be having a professional photo session again with Gina Cristine and I can't wait to share them with all of you. I have been having so much fun styling this photo session.

Delilah has been swimming and seems to be loving it. When she gets a little nervous, she just puts her thumb in her mouth and relaxes in the water.

Eating has been a lot of fun for Delilah. She loves to eat and gets so excited at the sight of food, anyones food. She will steal your food right out of your hand, plate or your spoon. She has moved on from baby oatmeal to sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, bananas and prunes.

She still sleeps in our bedroom in her bassinet and I don't see anything wrong with that. I know that a lot of people have strong opinions on when a baby should leave your room and sleep in their crib alone at night, but this is what feels right to me. She enjoys her crib, and takes most naps in it and pretty soon she will no longer fit in her bassinet and will have to go into her room. For now, these last few nights that she can, I'm keeping her next to me in her bassinet.

Delilah is 5 Months Old

Our sweet baby girl is 5 months old

Delilah is 5 months old and loving every minuet of it. She is getting so big, but she still has the sweet sweet smell of a brand new baby. She is full of big, bright smiles, adorable giggles and a whole lot of baby babble. She still loves to suck her thumb, and I still think that it is oh so sweet.

Last month we introduced her to baby oatmeal, and this month she discovered sweet potatoes. She is just wild about he sweet potatoes. In fact, the first time that we went to give her oatmeal when she was expecting sweet potatoes, she had a fit. It was brief, and thankfully she got over it and finished her oatmeal.

Delilah loves to be outside. There is so much to see, so much to hear, so much to do and so much to discover. We go for strolls around the neighborhood, sit out on the deck and our new favorite outdoor spot is The Morton Arboretum. Delilah can't wait until she can get out of her stroller and run wild and free.

Delilah has many girlfriends that she loves to have play dates with. She is the youngest of the bunch and so admires all of her girlfriends advance skills. The girls sure do love the baby and can't wait until she can talk to them and run around with them.

Next month Delilah has professional photos with Gina Cristine again for her 6 month milestone. I have been having so much fun styling for her photo session. I can't wait to share her photos with all of you. I can't believe how much our little one has grown in 5 months.

Time to eat, with a spoon!

We were very much looking forward to Delilah's 4 month check up, other than the shots. This was the first time that I was taking her without Patrick joining us and I had knots in my stomach as we were on our way. Her pediatrician is fantastic, and as soon as we got into the office I was feeling much better. Delilah was having so much fun flirting with her Dr. until he broke her heart by giving her a few shots to the legs. She went from a huge smile and giggles to a scream and serious tears within the blink of an eye. By the time I got her dressed, she was back to smiling.

We went straight home and got into bed for a nap. When we woke up, Delilah's left eye was swollen, red and tearing. I wasn't sure if it was a reaction to the shots, or just a coincidence with timing and something else was going on. She was happy and smiling and didn't seem to be bothered by what was going on. Shots make me so nervous and uncomfortable. There is really no good way around them. She seems to have strange reactions after her shots, but the alternative to not being vaccinated could be much worse.

I washed her hands and face, and flushed out her eye. After that it was much better for about an hour when it swelled up and started tearing again. I called over my fantastic friend and neighbor Erin who has a 1yr old and a 3yr old, and we all decided that Delilah was ok and we would see if it was still a problem the next morning. By morning she was fine, and it has not returned. The next morning, Patrick took the band aides off her legs and she had two big red lumps where the needles went in. Poor baby. These shots aren't going to get any easier for either of us.

Delilah is growing beautifully. She is long and lean just like her daddy. She has consistently been in the 75th percentile in height. At four months she measured 25 inches. Her weight was in the 32nd percentile at 12lbs 15oz., and she has a perfectly round head.

We were given the go ahead to start feeding Delilah baby cereal. Our pediatrician recommended that we go with oatmeal or barley as they are less binding. On Mother's day, Delilah had her 1st feeding of baby oatmeal and she loved it. We have so much fun every morning at breakfast. Delilah has been eyeing our food for a while now, and she was so ready and so excited to try something new and from a spoon. I'm very excited to introduce her to baby sweet potato's next in a couple of weeks. I think that she is going to love them.

Look who is 4 MONTHS!

Delilah is 4 MONTHS OLD!

Well another month has gone by and once again I feel like it really flew by. Maybe even more so this month since we have been pretty busy. This past month, Delilah attended her first 1st birthday party, her first baby shower, she changed the world at her first cloth diaper change, where she broke a Guinness book world record and she went on her first road trip down south. All events, a great success.

She smiles and flirts even more often, she rolls over onto her belly from her back and likes it now, she baby babbles all day long, she reaches for her toes grabs on and rolls and she still snuggles and cuddles and fills the world with lots of love.

Teething time has hit us and it breaks our hearts to hear her babble in distress. She looks at us with the saddest face and pouts out her bottom lip as she babbles on about how uncomfortable she is. She chews on her hands and drools all over to sooth herself. We have tried different teething rings and things, but she seems to get frustrated by them and drops them for her hand or a washcloth. After a few long days of teething, I have started giving her Gripe water and rubbing clove oil on her gums to help her pain and it seems to give her a couple of hours of relief. Hopefully her gums will give her a break soon.

She seems to be getting so tall so fast. My sweet little 4 month old is no longer a teeny, tiny baby. She has her 4 month check up this week and we are looking forward to hearing her stats, but not looking forward to another round of shots.
